Kate Legg is NCAR’s Archivist-Digital Collections Librarian and came to work at NCAR in May 2009. She attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and received a Masters in History with an emphasis on archives and records from Colorado State University. In 2008 she earned a “Certified Archivist”designation through the Society of American Archivists.
Kate comes to NCAR from the CSU Library and Archives where she was the archivist for the CSU Historic Photograph Collection, which includes over 300,000 photographs from the 1880s to the present. She managed a team of nine staff members to organize, scan, provide access and preserve this popular and treasured collection. In her spare time, Kate leads workshops for the general public on preserving family photographs and documents throughout Colorado.
As NCAR’s Archivist-Digital Collections Librarian, Kate enjoys preserving NCAR’s history and legacy, and is working with other Library staff to develop a plan for digital preservation of UCAR/NCAR’s historic and scholarly resources.
