Not finding what you are looking for? Submit an InterLibrary Loan Request to obtain books, journals and other materials not held by the NCAR Library. Be sure to specify the date by which you need requested materials. Printed forms for requesting interlibrary loans also are available at each library location.
Journal articles and similar documents will likely arrive on your desktop as PDF files. Books will be borrowed from other libraries and sent to you via interoffice mail. If you have special delivery instructions, please specify them when ordering.
Interlibrary Loan is a resource sharing service available to current UCAR/NCAR employees and official visitors. When you request an item through ILL you are asked to agree with a copyright compliance and Fair Use statement.
In order for your request to comply with copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code), only five articles may be borrowed from any given journal title during each calendar year. The Library must pay for the sixth and any subsequent requests. In order to fall within the scope of Fair Use, the materials you obtain must be used for research, education, and non-commercial purposes. You may be liable for copyright infringement for any use in excess of Fair Use.
The NCAR Library reserves the right to refuse an ILL request if it appears that fulfillment would be a violation of copyright, in which case the Library will advise you on other ways to obtain the needed material. If you have any questions regarding interlibrary loan policies and limits on borrowing, please Ask a Librarian.
To make it easier to fulfill your request, please provide as much information as possible.
