The NCAR Library and Archives supports and collaborates in UCAR/NCAR/UCP scholarly work and educational activities by providing information, preservation, access, metrics, and citation services over research, technology, educational and historical materials. We offer our resources and services to support preparations for your scientific papers and presentations. To meet this mission, we:

  • Provide and promote access to, and preservation of, collections that are required for research, for historical record, and for accountability
  • Provide and promote access to the scholarship and resources needed by the institution's staff/visitors to succeed (e.g. Catalogs, E-Journals, E-Books, Reports, Data, Journals, Books, etc.)
  • Provide and promote comprehensive and timely services to our users in a seamless environment that allows them to accomplish their work accurately and efficiently
  • Provide metrics on institutional impact including scholarship (peer-reviewed and grey) and facilities use to aid decision making and reporting (NAR, etc.)
  • Provide collaborative and individual meeting meeting spaces as well as library staff to accommodate reference support

OpenSky Repository

OpenSky provides free and open access to the digital resources and records of the UCAR/NCAR/UCP organization for the advancement of science and society. Our scholarly collections include published articles, proceedings, and book chapters; grey literature, conference posters and presentations; scientific reports and manuals; and student scholarship from the SOARS and SIParCS programs. The OpenSky repository offers:

  • DOI's minted for UCAR copyrighted materials
  • Expertise regarding copyright practices and authors' rights
  • Permanent online home for your scholarship
