Jennifer has worked at NCAR since 2011, with a primary focus on digital librarianship: developing and implementing library services online. With a background in metadata and cataloging, Jennifer serves as manager of the Library and as product owner for the OpenSky repository. She has a longstanding interest in scholarly communication (write/cite/publish), especially in the sciences.
Sara began working as the NCAR Library User Experience Specialist (Librarian) in 2018, after working for many years managing library websites, helping patrons, and trying to make sure that people can find the information they need as quickly as possible. Her research interests include library UX, collection management, and project management. Assisting with reference, interlibrary loan, circulation, and e-resource access, she is primarily based at the Foothills Library.
Emily currently leads the financial management of SciEd and the NCAR Library. She handles budgeting and projections, focusing on division/program level planning and entity roll-ups, application of UCAR and sponsor guidelines, and oversight of staffing and expenses. Emily is responsible for leading SciEd and the NCAR Library's proposal submission process to bring in needed funding for SciEd and Library priorities by ensuring timely and compliant submissions, applying UCAR policies and procedures, preparing accurate and reasonable budgets, assisting both experienced and inexperienced investigators and collaborators, and guiding staff through the process. Emily leads the SciEd and Library administrative teams and advises and supports the Community Art Program. As the lead administrator, she handles many UCAR requests, resolves many special issues, and advises on policies and procedures.
Michael began his UCAR career as a Metadata Technician in the DLESE Program Center in 2001. He moved to the Mesa Lab Library in 2008 and has since been a jack of all trades, acting as the primary contact for access to ejournals & ebooks, as well as interlibrary loan requests and general circulation needs.
Laura manages the NCAR Archives, and is responsible for collecting, organizing, preserving, and making accessible the records that document the history and legacy of NCAR/UCAR/UCP. She works with staff to transfer records to the archives, preserves web content, organizes, preserves, and catalogs material for access and discovery, and shares content through digital collections and exhibits. Laura also assists internal and external customers with research and reference questions.
Keith joined the NCAR library in 2013 after completing his PhD in computer science from CU/Boulder. He has been passionately involved in research and development projects at the Library, and more recently in bibliometrics and scholarly metrics initiatives. He currently leads efforts to focus on the importance of software as a first-class scholarly artifact. He explores aspects of how libraries might become critical partners in developing strategies and techniques for the future of research traceability and reproducibility through computational narratives. Keith is the program computational mentor lead for the SOARS program, conducting workshops on computational thinking, Python, and reproducible research.
Matt is a Project Scientist and Research Data Services Specialist in the NCAR Library. He leads NCAR Library research projects and operational services related to research data curation. His research interests include metadata practices and standards, data curation education, data citation and identity, and social and institutional aspects of research data. He is the current chair of the NCAR Data Stewardship Engineering Team, which provides coordination and technical systems for data curation across NCAR, and a member of the Board on Data Stewardship within the American Meteorological Society. He is also a member of the editorial boards of the Data Science Journal and the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology (JASIST).
Eileen is a shared resource as a Writer/Editor for UCP's CPAESS and other programs, as well as assisting the NCAR Library as a web content editor. She also helps to staff the two NCAR Library locations (Mesa Library, Foothills Library). Her background includes serving as a liaison with multiple university community partners and conducting outreach, communications, and professional development responsibilities for digital library education efforts.
Dennis is the Systems Administrator for the Library. He manages the technical infrastructure for the Library's public-facing systems; the library web site and the OpenSky Repository, and the internal systems used by the Library staff for digital information management and preservation. He oversees the Library's cybersecurity and technical disaster recovery strategies, and is the Library's liaison to the broader UCAR/NCAR Information Technology teams.
Jonathan has worked as a software developer for UCAR for 15 years. He is responsible for the Library’s repository applications (OpenSky and the NCAR Archives) including web services that connect them to other applications. He enjoys building tools that make the library run smoothly, as well as contributing to research projects that connect scholarly publications with other research resources, such as datasets and grant information.
As the Library’s lead administrative assistant, Pat supports staff, the Library Director, and the Library Administrator with expert knowledge of UCAR policies and procedures. She is the point person for the Library on new UCAR Operations initiatives, updating and coaching staff on changes. Pat oversees Library renewals, complex and routine purchasing, vendor coordination, and expense tracking. She is responsible for the Library’s office space, equipment, and environment. Pat’s time is shared with the COSMIC program, in a similar role.
