Check out, Renew or Request Resources

All NCAR/UCAR/UCP employees and official visitors may check out library resources from either library location. Learn more about the NCAR Library locations.

Obtaining library materials not at your location:

  • Once you have determined the location of the item, as displayed in the NCAR Library catalog, contact NCAR Reference and request delivery to your location.
  • Item will be delivered via the UCAR Black bag service, electronically delivered via email, or faxed.
  • If item is not immediately available, contact Ask a Librarian.

Self check-out locations:

  • Self check-out centers are located at each library location. Scan your NCAR employee badge to access your NCAR Library catalog account.
  • Scan the bar code on each item to be checked-out. Instructions are displayed next to each self check-out location.
  • Blue check-out cards are available if you are not able to scan the items or there is not a visible bar code displayed.

Circulation periods:

  • Check your NCAR Library catalog account online for due dates of items checked out.
  • The library periodically sends out notices for overdue items. Please respond to the request and if necessasry request addtional time.

  • Questions regarding circulation, email or call extension 1184.

 

Rush Delivery

  • If you need an item immediately contact NCAR Reference and request delivery to your location.
  • Item will be delivered via the UCAR Black bag service, electronically delivered via email, or faxed.
  • If item is not immediately available, contact Ask a Librarian.

 

Request Materials not held by the NCAR Library

If you need resources that you cannot find at the NCAR Library, please use our Request-It Form.

  • Books will be borrowed from other libraries and sent to you by interoffice mail.
  • Journals and similar documents will be sent by PDF files.
  • You can also request that an item be purchased.
  • Other types of materials will be handled on a case by case basis.

The NCAR Library's mission is to provide services and technologies to enhance scientific discovery, collaboration and innovative methods in research. To this end, if you feel your requested materials would be beneficial to the NCAR Library collection, please indicate this on the Request-It form.
